100 years, Washi became a forgotten art.
Before that time, Washi was used daily.
We wish to bring Washi back into the 21th century and to remind the world of Japanfs beauty.
›gŠk BENGARA
Red ochre is a red pigment. The name bengara is thought to have derived from a red iron oxide brought to Japan from the Indian province of Bengal in the 16c. It is considered as one of oldest pigments of mankind. Bengara is a bright, purplish-red pigment, also written ƒxƒ“ƒKƒ‰, g•¿, or gŠk. in Japanese. Bengara is resistant to sunlight, air, heat, and alkalinity. It was applied to pillars, beams, outside walls, and decorative wooden elements of vernacular dwellings.

›Š`a KAKI-SHIBU
In Japan, astringent persimmons are used to make persimmon tannin juice, or kaki-shibu. It has been used for preventing bacteria growth. It is insect proof and water resistant. Only uneatable persimmons have the ability to make the best Kaki-shibu.
Persimmon tannin hardens the fiber of wood and paper, prevents corrosion, and makes them water resistant. It has been used to make Japanese paper, umbrellas, and wooden ware. Therefore, Kakishibu - persimmon juice- is best used for dyeing, strengthening and waterproofing paper.
›˜aކ Handmade Japanese paper
Washi is a type of traditional paper made in Japan. Washi is commonly made using fibers from the bark of the gampi tree and the mitsumata shrub, but also it can be made using bamboo, hemp, rice, and wheat. "Washi" comes from "Wa" meaning Japanese & "Shi" meaning paper.
Washi is generally tougher than ordinary paper made from wood pulp, and is used in many traditional arts. Origami, Shodo, and Ukiyo-e were all produced using washi. Washi was also used to make various everyday goods like clothes, household goods, and toys as well as vestments and ritual objects for Shinto priests and statues of Buddha. It was even used to make wreaths that were given to winners in the 1998 Winter Paralympics. Washi was developed from the traditional Chinese paper-making process.
›ƒƒNƒ^ކ LOKUTA Paper
The Lokta Papers from Nepal are known as to Rice Paper.
Nepali Handmade paper or Lokta is made from the bark of the "Lokta" bush (Daphne Cannabina/Papyracea), which grows naturally in the Himalayas at altitudes of 6500 to 9500 feet. In the heart of the Himalaya , Nepali crafts people have been producing Nepali handmade paper for over a thousand years. This long fibrous, acid-free handmade paper is renowned for its attractive texture, exceptional durability and strength. The people of Nepal continue to use Nepali handmade paper or lokta paper in their daily life and, until the Chinese occupation in 1959, traded it with Tibet where it was used in the monasteries for sacred texts.
